The compact crossover SUV, Audi Q5 was first released in 2008 and it is one of the nearly-perfect creations of the infamous German car maker, Audi.
It is designed and produced based on Audi MLP platform. Audi Q5 is the second model in the ‘Q’ series.
The latest Audi Q5 2011 edition is now going to hit the markets in few months time, and the expectations are really high from this contender, especially after huge success of the new A4 and A6 sedans from the house of Audi.
First Generation Audi Q5 (2008-Present)
The initial Audi Q5 model was debuted in 2008 at Beijing Auto Show. It was offered in station wagon and in coupe body forms.
The Quattro permanent four wheel drive was standard on all the models, and the 2.0 liter turbo charged I-4 base engine was standard across the board, while 2.0L TDI diesel I-4 and 3.0L TDI diesel V6 engines were optionally available.
The available transmissions to the engines include 6-speed manual, 6-speed Tiptronic and 7-speed DSG. The 2.0L engine can produce power up to 178 hp at 6000 rpm and torque of 236 lb ft at 4200 rpm.

As far as the exterior dimensions of the Audi Q5 are concerned, it has wheelbase of 110.6 inches, length of 182.3 inches, width of 74.0 inches and height of 65.0 inches. It is closely related to Audi S4, Audi A5 and Audi S5 variants.
The Audi Q5 custom concept model was introduced in 2009 that comes powered by a 3.0 liter TFSI V6 engine, which delivers 402 hp of power at 6500 rpm and torque of 370 lb ft at 4000 rpm. Audi had also planned to release the hybrid version of Q5, but due to the poor crash test results, they had to drop the idea.
2011 Audi Q5

The all new 2011 Audi Q5 will come at a base MSRP of $35,200, loaded with turbocharged 2.0L 4-cylinder engine, coupled to 8-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission.
